About this list
The region’s clubs sit on both sides of the Rhine and play in the leagues of Baden, Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate. Mannheim has the Schachklub Mannheim 1946 in the Bürgerhaus Neckarstadt, the SK Mannheim-Lindenhof 1865 in the Volkshaus Neckarau, Steuben Feudenheim with its summer open, and two clubs in Sandhofen. Heidelberg has the Schachfreunde Heidelberg and the SC 1949 Rohrbach-Boxberg, and across the river Ludwigshafen has the Schachklub of 1912 and the chess department of the ESV 1927.
Along the Bergstraße the list runs from Viernheim, whose club plays in the Bundesliga, through Weinheim, Bensheim, Heppenheim and Lorsch to Bürstadt and Biblis. The Hardt and Kraichgau towns add Walldorf, Wiesloch, Hockenheim, Sandhausen, Ketsch, Brühl and the Sinsheim villages; the Palatinate side adds Frankenthal, Worms, Speyer, Haßloch, Neustadt, Bad Dürkheim, Deidesheim and Landau down to Kandel and Hagenbach, and the Odenwald adds Mosbach, Buchen and Neckargemünd. The school working groups listed here are for their own pupils.
