Chess in Bensheim 3

Bensheim on the Bergstraße has three chess listings of quite different kinds. The Schachgesellschaft 1931 Bensheim meets on Friday evenings from eight, after youth training from half past six, and runs a city championship in the autumn and a Freestyle cup. Its Bensheimer Active-Chess-Open has been played for almost three decades in the Bürgerhaus Kronepark in Auerbach: eleven rounds of quick games on a Sunday in early September.

The third listing needs no club at all. The city’s integration centre in Hauptstraße holds a volunteer-led chess meeting every Thursday afternoon from three to half past four, free, for all ages, with no registration and no prior knowledge needed. Someone who has never moved a piece can simply come in and sit down at a board.
