Schachtage, opens and the Kurpfalz-Cup 9

The region’s tournament year has a fixed rhythm. The Internationale Haßlocher Schachtage are played over Pentecost in a Haßloch school, the Ketscher Jugendopen for young players is held in the Rheinhalle in Ketsch in May or June, and the Erhard-Stephan memorial tournament is played in July in the bird park of Altlußheim. From May to September the Kurpfalz-Cup moves its rapid match days between the clubs of the Hardt, and the Bensheimer Active-Chess-Open closes the summer in Auerbach.

Autumn belongs to the longer opens: the Wormser Nibelungen-Open in October with an A and a B group, the Sparkassen Schachopen in the Heidenberghalle in Lautertal, and the Heidelberger Schachherbst at Forum 1 in Emmertsgrund at the turn of October and November. Between Christmas and the New Year the Robert-Schuman-Schule in Frankenthal hosts the international Christmas open. Tournaments that a club plays among its own members are kept on that club’s listing.
